Republican Ethnographical Expedition at Kozybayev University

A republican expedition titled "National Value: Kazakh Ethnography and Zeinolla Sanik – 90 Years," organized by the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, arrived at the university. Its members include well-known ethnographers, culturologists, writers, and media representatives who set off from West Kazakhstan to South Kazakhstan, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, East Kazakhstan, Abai regions, and Shymkent. And now, the expedition has arrived in the NKR.

The purpose of the trip is the comprehensive promotion of national values, the popularization of spiritual heritage, getting acquainted with the condition of historical monuments in the regions, collecting ethnographic, folkloric, and literary assets, and publishing new works by local ethnographers, local historians, and followers of Zeinolla Sanik.

Zeinolla Sanik is a well-known Kazakh writer, folklorist, ethnographer, publisher, and translator. His works, such as the novels "Sergelden" and "Tugyrul Khan", as well as research papers on the history and culture of the Kazakhs, became an important contribution to Kazakh literature and science.

"The expedition started in Mangystau. Our goal is to bring the ancient ethnography and traditions of the Kazakhs to the public memory. During the event, we will visit museums and monuments of the Northern region, including Sasykkol—the birthplace of Magzhan Zhumabayev, and film a documentary. Today, within the walls of the university, we are meeting with regional intellectuals, local historians, and students. We will promote our traditions and cultural values, which are beginning to be forgotten by the youth. In the future, we intend to open a classroom named after Zeinolla Sanik at your university," said Kasymkhan Begmanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan.

The next destinations of the expedition will be the cities of Kostanay and Pavlodar.
