Partnership with a Long-Term Vision

Kozybayev University welcomed Shang Weixing, Assistant to the Rector of the Northwest A&F University (NWAFU), China, and Li Jinyang, General Manager of GuangHua (Guanghua Agricultural Product). During a meeting with the university’s leadership, the parties outlined key areas for further cooperation and discussed the development of a Roadmap for the next five years.

"We have been successfully cooperating for nearly ten years. We would like the next decade of our partnership to be marked by practical solutions aimed at attracting manufacturing enterprises that collaborate with NWAFU, enabling us to commercialize research outcomes and implement joint projects," noted Chairman of the Executive Board – Rector Yerbol Issakayev.

Since 2017, Kozybayev University has been successfully building a strategic partnership with the Northwest A&F University (NWAFU, Yangling, China) within the framework of the international Belt and Road Initiative. Over the years, this collaboration has evolved into a comprehensive academic and research partnership.

The universities currently implement two joint dual-degree programs in the agricultural field, with students spending one semester at Kozybayev University and three semesters in China. At present, two master’s students enrolled in these programs are studying in China. Academic mobility has also become one of the key areas of cooperation. Over the years, around 100 Chinese undergraduate and graduate students have studied at our university, while 30 Kozybayev University students have completed studies at the Chinese partner institution. Currently, another 35 students are pursuing their education at NWAFU.

The universities are conducting extensive joint research in the fields of food security, agronomy, plant breeding, water resources, and other areas highly relevant to Northern Kazakhstan. Kozybayev University has established an Agricultural Competence Center, which serves as a platform for the introduction of advanced knowledge and technologies. Demonstration sites have also been launched at the university’s partner agricultural enterprises in North Kazakhstan Region: Kyzylzhar Sut LLP and Mambetov and Co. Limited Partnership. Their purpose is to conduct joint research aimed at improving feed quality, increasing livestock productivity, and enhancing animal reproduction.

As part of the current visit, the Chinese delegation, together with the Dean and faculty members of the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies, visited several agricultural enterprises in the region: Astyk Stem (Taiynsha District), Petro-Sever, and Elim Kyzyl Zhar (Kyzylzhar District).
