Preserving Literary Heritage: University Receives Books by Abish Kekilbayev
Kozybayev University Library has received books by renowned Kazakh writer Abish Kekilbayev as a donation from Bank CenterCredit JSC.
Fifty copies of the historical novel "Eleñ-Alañ", dedicated to the events of the 18th century in the history of the Kazakh people, are now available to students, faculty, and staff. According to Asiya Yermisheva, Director of the University Library, the works of Abish Kekilbayev are in high demand among readers. However, the library had not previously possessed this novel as a separate publication. The newly donated edition represents the author's more complete version of the work.
"To date, our bank has republished approximately 8,100 copies of this novel across Kazakhstan. The books have been transferred to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for further distribution among universities throughout the country. The novel tells the story of the historical development of our people and holds a significant place in Kazakh literature. We hope that studying this work will be highly beneficial for students," said Rustam Ayulov, Director of the Petropavlovsk Branch of Bank CenterCredit JSC.
The literary legacy of Abish Kekilbayev has become an integral part of Kazakh literature and culture. His works represent not only outstanding literary achievements but also a profound reflection on the nation's history, values, and spiritual heritage. It is no coincidence that he is regarded as one of the most distinguished and influential figures in Kazakhstan's cultural history. The ceremonial event was attended by the writer's grandson,
Chairman of the Executive Board – Rector Yerbol Issakayev emphasized that the project makes a significant contribution to preserving and promoting Kazakh literature:
"It is encouraging to see our general partner, Bank CenterCredit, implementing such an important initiative. This is an excellent example of the business community supporting projects of great cultural and ideological significance. These books will help students gain a deeper understanding of our nation's history, values, and spiritual traditions. Overall, the bank actively contributes to the development of our university. Over the past three years, tremendous work has been carried out to improve the campus infrastructure, including the creation of new student spaces, a public square, and modern sports facilities."
The event took place at the Center for the Kazakh Language, Culture and Reading, which was opened in the university library three months ago. The center has become a dedicated space for preserving and promoting Kazakhstan's national spiritual values. To mark the occasion, the library staff organized a thematic book exhibition highlighting the life and literary legacy of Abish Kekilbayev.
