No Plagiarism or Cheating: Kozybayev University Builds a Culture of Academic Integrity Among Students
Anti-corruption efforts are an important part of Kozybayev University’s activities. As one of the first higher education institutions in the country, the University joined the League of Academic Integrity of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The University also has a “Sanaly Urpaq” Project Office, which brings together a group of student activists involved in the anti-corruption movement and regularly organizes events focused on preventing corruption.
One such initiative is the traditional “Integrity Hour” organized for first-year students.
The event featured Zeynegul Kunanbayeva, Chief Specialist of the Corruption Prevention Department of the Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs in North Kazakhstan Region, and Inna Dzhemaledinova, Head of the University’s Anti-Corruption Compliance Service.
The students learned about corruption risks in the academic environment, measures to prevent corruption, the principles of academic integrity, and the University’s existing compliance mechanisms.
“Integrity begins with each person’s own choice,” the speakers reminded the students.
Particular attention was paid to completing academic assignments independently, the inadmissibility of cheating and plagiarism, as well as ways to seek advice when controversial situations arise.
