BioStart: First Steps into the World of Biotechnology and Science
BioStart, an interactive science outreach event organized by the BioTech Alliance Student Scientific Society for biotechnology students, was held as part of the celebrations marking the 95th anniversary of Academician Manash Kozybayev.
First-year students learned about current fields of biotechnology, opportunities for professional and academic development, and the prospects available to students from the very beginning of their university studies. During the event, they explored the industries in which biotechnology is applied and its role in medicine, agriculture, the food industry, environmental science, and other fields.
Particular attention was given to international internships, academic mobility, participation in research projects, conferences, competitions, and other research activities. Second- and third-year students shared their personal experiences, spoke about volunteering, student initiatives, and professional development opportunities at the university.
An interactive science quest was a highlight of the program, allowing first-year students to test their knowledge, demonstrate teamwork skills, and explore the world of biotechnology in an engaging format.
“BioTech Alliance invites all interested students to join the Student Scientific Society, develop their research skills, participate in projects, and take their first steps in science as early as their first year of study,” said Yulia Byzova, Associate Professor at the International Campus.
BioStart provided a platform for students to share experiences, promote scientific engagement, and encourage first-year students to become actively involved in university life.
