World Heart Day
On September 29, 2026, World Heart Day is observed worldwide. It was first organized in 1999 at the initiative of the World Heart Federation to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases.
Cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of death worldwide. They include coronary heart disease, stroke, hypertension, arrhythmias, and other conditions. Many of these diseases can be prevented by taking measures to maintain heart health.
One of the main goals of World Heart Day is to promote a healthy lifestyle that includes a balanced diet, regular physical activity, quitting smoking, and moderate alcohol consumption. These simple habits can significantly reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
As part of World Heart Day, the University’s Psychological Service and the Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with AstraZeneca and the Just Suppport Foundation, are holding an event dedicated to this important date on the ground floor of the Educational and Laboratory Building.
During the event, which will take place in the atrium on the ground floor of the Educational and Laboratory Building starting at 10:00 a.m., you will be able to have your blood pressure and pulse measured and receive free consultations from leading medical specialists.
World Heart Day is an opportunity for all of us to think about the health of our hearts and the hearts of our loved ones. Taking care of heart health should be a priority for everyone, because only with a healthy heart can we fully enjoy life and stay active.
