Two Brothers — One Dream. And Two Degrees Ahead!
Alikhan and Bekzhan Dosmugamet from Almaty Region are twins who have taken a major step toward a successful future together. Both have become students of Kozybayev University after receiving state grants to study under the dual-degree program “Information Systems in Management,” implemented by the university in partnership with the University of Arizona.
The brothers learned about the program at the Study in Kazakhstan exhibition organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This year, the Kozybayev University International Campus team presented programs implemented jointly with the University of Arizona to prospective students in 15 cities across Kazakhstan.
“When we were submitting our documents, I called to clarify how everything should be completed. We received a very warm welcome at the university, and the dormitories are beautiful. Thank you to everyone! We invite everyone to Kozybayev University,” Bekzhan shared.
For Alikhan, choosing an IT field was a continuation of a long-standing interest. He has been passionate about computers since childhood, and as early as Grade 10, he decided that he wanted to build his future around technology. After graduating from university, he plans to stay in the North Kazakhstan Region.
The students’ mother, Zhаzira, a Kazakh language and literature teacher, said that she discovered the beauty and hospitality of northern Kazakhstan.
“I woke up early in the morning and noticed how clean the air is here — it’s not like in Almaty. I’m happy that my children will study in Petropavlovsk,” said Zhаzira Suykimbekova.
And even more opportunities await her sons.
In their fourth year, students who successfully pass the competitive selection will have the opportunity to spend one semester in the United States at the University of Arizona campus in Tucson. The selection process takes into account academic achievements, participation in academic competitions, research and community activities, and volunteer projects.
This year, 182 students received educational grants to study under dual-degree programs implemented by Kozybayev University in partnership with the University of Arizona.
