Tomorrow School Begins Operations
A free programming and artificial intelligence school, Tomorrow School, has officially launched at Kozybayev University. The school follows a peer-to-peer learning methodology.
As a reminder, the ceremonial opening of 14 pilot Tomorrow School projects took place simultaneously across the country in April this year, with the participation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek.
Now, the school has officially begun its work. Its participants include not only students of our university but also other individuals interested in acquiring programming skills. A total of 180 applications were submitted, with approximately 60 participants selected.
The project was launched on the basis of the Astana Hub technopark by the Alem.ai Foundation in partnership with the French educational platform 01 Edu. Training is conducted entirely offline. There are no traditional schedules, mentors, or lectures — learning is based on practical assignments, collaborative projects, and peer code reviews. Throughout the program, students complete more than 50 real-world projects, building a strong professional portfolio. The curriculum covers modern programming languages such as JavaScript, Rust, Python, and Golang, as well as artificial intelligence technologies.
Participants will first undergo a four-week intensive selection stage. This is a deep immersion into programming directly on campus, designed to assess motivation and the ability to learn in a peer-to-peer environment. It is followed by the main 18-month program, focused on mastering the fundamentals of software development. After that, students complete a three-month internship and work on real-world projects at IT companies. Those who successfully complete all these stages will have the opportunity to spend six months specializing in one of seven tracks: Mobile Development, Game Development, Cybersecurity, Full Stack Development, Blockchain & Crypto, AI/ML, or Cloud DevOps.
The launch of Tomorrow School in Kazakhstan is part of the large-scale initiative of the Head of State aimed at advancing artificial intelligence and digitalization. Tomorrow School is positioned as an important component in training a new generation of Kazakhstan’s IT professionals capable of working with artificial intelligence and modern digital technologies.
