Dialogue Between Science and Practice: University Discusses Current Challenges in Water Resources

The university hosted a scientific seminar titled “Water Quality, Microbiological Safety and Water Resource Reuse: Current Challenges and Solutions”, featuring Professor Charles Gerba from the University of Arizona.

The event brought together young researchers and members of the academic community for a professional dialogue on one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time — preserving the quality and safety of water resources.

Participants focused on new approaches to water quality assessment, environmental monitoring of water bodies, the study of aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity, as well as the potential application of bioindication, analytical, and GIS technologies. Particular attention was paid to the research and conservation of water resources in the North Kazakhstan Region.

Master’s students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences presented the results of their research, ranging from drinking water quality control to the assessment of the environmental condition of natural water bodies. The young researchers received expert recommendations from Professor Charles Gerba on improving their methodology, expanding their research areas, and increasing the scientific and practical significance of their work.
