UNDP Training Seminars on Climate Risk Assessment
This week, as part of a project of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Kazakhstan, Kozybayev University implemented a large-scale international project entitled “Institutionalizing Adaptation Planning and Integrating Climate Risks into Kazakhstan’s Development Planning Processes to Ensure the Implementation of Adaptation Measures within a Consistent National Adaptation Planning Policy.”
The university hosted training seminars on climate risk assessment.
The program included four days of training. First, UNDP experts Adlet Tkenov and Saulet Sakenov conducted training sessions on climate risk assessment in four sectors: agriculture, water resources, forestry, and emergency situations. Based on the knowledge and competencies they acquired, university representatives, with the support of UNDP experts, then integrated the training module into the educational process by conducting a lecture session for their students.
The program participants included faculty members, academic coordinators and educational program methodologists, developers of teaching and learning materials, heads and staff of relevant departments specializing in ecology and sustainable development, and researchers.
Upon completion of the training, participants received certificates.
