Kozybayev University Scholar Yernaz Yermekov Undertakes Research Internship at the University of Arizona
Yernaz Yermekov, Associate Professor at the Department of Food Safety and Assistant to the Rector of Kozybayev University for Science and Innovation, has begun an international research internship at the University of Arizona (USA).
From October 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027, Yernaz Yermekov will work at the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry as a Research Scholar under the Bolashak programme. The project is supervised by Professor Jeffrey Pyun.
The research topic is “Development of Innovative Sulfur-Based Polymers and Their Industrial Applications.”
The research focuses on studying new sulfur-containing polymer materials and their potential applications in industry.
This area is of particular interest to Kozybayev University. Yernaz Yermekov’s research is related to agricultural raw material processing, starch, biodegradable materials, food safety and zero-waste technologies.
The expertise gained at the University of Arizona will help expand this area of research and support the development of new research projects at the university.
The University of Arizona has been a strategic partner of Kozybayev University since 2022.
Today, the cooperation includes joint educational programmes, academic mobility and research projects.
Yernaz Yermekov’s internship is another practical outcome of this partnership and an opportunity to develop new expertise in polymer chemistry, materials science and their industrial applications.
