The Magic of Words: From Reading to the Art of Communication
As part of the national “Кітап оқитын ұлт” (“A Nation That Reads”) marathon, the OQYRMAN book club held another meeting.
The guest of the event was Irina Pashkina, lead actress at the N. Pogodin Russian Drama Theatre and a teacher of stage speech and acting. She conducted a master class for students on reading, speech, and the art of communication. The participants discussed why not only what we say matters, but also how we say it. Diction, intonation, expressiveness, and voice are not merely professional terms, but essential tools for effective communication.
The discussion also touched on books and how reading helps develop speech, critical thinking, and the ability to express thoughts clearly and eloquently.
These are precisely the kinds of events that make the book club special. A book becomes more than just a text - it becomes an opportunity to meet, talk, listen to one another, and discover something new within ourselves.
OQYRMAN has many more exciting meetings ahead with interesting and talented people, including university faculty and staff, representatives of the cultural and arts community, and well-known figures from our city.
