Learning outcomes 5В060800 Ecology

The graduate of this modular educational program is awarded an academic degree "Bachelor of Science"

Bachelors of natural sciences have the following key competencies:

1) in native language

  • is able to express and understand concepts, thoughts, feelings, facts and opinions in the field of ecology and environmental protection in written and oral forms (listening, speaking, reading and writing), and interact linguistically appropriately and creatively in the diversity of social and cultural contexts : during study, at work, at home and at leisure.

2) in foreign languages

  • owns basic communication skills in state, Russian, English: is able to understand, express and interpret concepts, facts and opinions both in the field of ecology and environmental protection, both verbally and in writing (listening, speaking, reading, writing) in an appropriate a number of social and cultural contexts; has the skills of mediation and intercultural understanding.

3) fundamental mathematical, scientific and technical training

  • is able and ready to apply the educational potential, experience and personal qualities acquired during the study of mathematical, natural and technical disciplines in higher education, to determine the ways, to control and evaluate the solution of professional problems, the development of mathematical and natural-science thinking. 

4) computer

  • is able to confidently and critically use modern information technologies for work, leisure and communication, has the skills of using, restoring, evaluating, storing, producing, presenting and exchanging information through the computer, communicating and participating in collaborative networks using the Internet in the field of professional activities.

  • possesses basic knowledge in the field of ecological and geographical disciplines (sciences), contributing to the formation of a highly educated person with a broad outlook and a culture of thinking; realizes the need for constant training, can find available opportunities; is able to strive and persistently continue to learn.

6) social

  • in various social situations;he knows how to find compromises, to correlate his opinion with the opinion of the collective;
  • owns norms, knows social and ethical values ​​based on public opinion, traditions, customs, social norms and orientate on them in their professional activities;

  • know the scientific basis of natural science, theoretical and applied ecology, the evolution of the biosphere and other shells of the Earth, the sustainable development of ecosystems and society, the structure and composition of natural and anthropogenic ecosystems and the patterns of their functioning of ecosystems of different rank; the geochemical composition of the environment, the tasks and principles of environmental monitoring of global, regional, local environmental problems and rational measures to eliminate violations of ecosystem functions; the basis of environmental regulation and expertise; classification of natural resources and resource-saving technologies in various spheres of nature management; bases of national and international legislation in the field of environmental protection and nature management, biodiversity conservation; content and structure of environmental education and worldview; ecological state of the environment of Kazakhstan;
  • are able to organize and conduct field and experimental ecological studies, analyze the dynamics of ecological processes, monitor and predict the state of the environment; to collect, analyze and summarize environmental information, map environmental objects; professionally solve certain practical issues of environmental activities of enterprises and organizations; the requirements of environmental safety in the workplace; correctly use the knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework in the field of environmental protection; use methods of bioindication, environmental assessment of projects; determine the environmental safety of enterprises and organizations; to conduct educational and educational work among the population;
  • possess the skills of carrying out field and experimental environmental studies, calculations, quality control of environmental standards and environmental quality indicators; development of measures to prevent depletion and pollution of water, soil, mineral and raw materials, recreational and biological resources, assess the performance of industrial and other facilities; determination of the environmental safety of machinery, technological processes to determine the quality of the environment, conduct environmental impact assessment, public awareness and advocacy on environmental issues, compiling reports on environmental assessment;

Bachelors of Science in Education (5B060801) Environmental protection and biodiversity conservation have the following special competencies:

  • know the scientific basis for protecting the environment from pollution; the content of cadastre and types of cadastres of natural resources; optimization of the natural environment; classification of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, measures for the conservation and restoration of disturbed ecosystems; category, status, protection regime of specially protected natural areas;
  • are able to organize and carry out measures to protect the environment from pollution, to compile inventories of natural resources, industrial wastes, specially protected natural areas; conduct and manage environmental activities to optimize the natural environment;
  • possess the skills of scientific research, assessment and prediction on environmental protection and biodiversity conservation in various natural-ecological, socio-ecological, economic conditions; carrying out activities to conserve ecosystem resilience and biological diversity;
  • are able to monitor, analyze, evaluate and forecast measures for the protection, protection of the environment and on the basis of modern technical means and information technologies; professionally solve practical problems of optimization of harmful effects of pollutants on the natural environment, restoration of disturbed ecosystems; use methods and techniques for self-education in the field of environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.

Bachelors of Science in Education (5B060802) Environmental expertise and audit have the following special competencies:

  • know the system of standardization and certification in the field of environmental protection at the international, national level; methods for calculating pollutant indicators; scientific and practical bases of expert and auditor evaluation of the quality of the environment, the activities of enterprises and institutions; a list of technical means and control technologies in the field of environmental protection;
  • are able to use environmental regulations, standards, technical means and control technologies in the field of environmental protection; carry out calculations of environmental indicators and determine the environmental safety of technical means and technologies in the activities of enterprises and organizations; to create scientific substantiations of ecological projects;
  • own skills in environmental auditing, standardization and certification, environmental assessment, project appraisal; method of calculation of pollutant indicators; use of technical instruments and measurement technology;
  • are able to monitor, keep records, analyze, evaluate and forecast the activities of environmental impact assessment and auditing using modern technical means, information technologies; professionally solve practical issues of environmental impact assessment and audit; use the methods and techniques of self-education in addressing issues of environmental standardization and certification, expertise.
