Askhat Aimagambetov: «We will support important initiatives of Kozybayev University»

Today, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov paid a visit to Kazybayev University. First, he visited the 11-storey educational and laboratory building under construction. This is a modern scientific and educational complex that has no analogues in the regions of the country. And it will ensure the attraction of more applicants to Northern Kazakhstan.

The work was started in May 2020. The total area of the building is more than 18 thousand sq.m. The building will include 73 laboratories for engineering, medicine, natural and agricultural sciences. Modern equipment will help to form students' practical skills. Also, scientists will carry out research on the order of local agricultural enterprises.

The Minister asked Akim of North Kazakhstan Region Kumar Aksakalov and Chairman of the Board-Rector of Kozybayev University Yerlan Shulanov about the need for medical direction in the university. «This direction is very necessary for the region. Since in the spring, when there was a distribution of medical graduates, everyone was sorted out within seven minutes. There was even a struggle among medical institutions for young cadres. There is a medical base, we work under an agreement with the Regional Multidisciplinary Hospital: there students undergo training and practice. We train children in the programs «General Medicine» and «Pharmacy». The need for graduates is very high,» the rector noted.

Also on this day, Askhat Aimagambetov met with the pedagogical asset of Kazybayev University. The teachers told the Minister that the decision to transfer the university to the trust management of the University of Arizona was made at each faculty and department. The majority of the team supported this decision and hopes for new prospects that such cooperation opens up: the development of inter-university scientific collaboration, training in new pedagogical technologies for teachers, modernization of curricula, transition to a modern system of corporate governance. Students will be able to receive two diplomas at once: Kazakh and international. «A lot of transformational work is already underway,» the teachers assured. - Updating of educational programs and close cooperation with stakeholders is underway.»

An important event for our region on this day was the Republican Congress of Teachers and Historians with the participation of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

«Here, within the walls of Kozybayev University, we have gathered the best teachers of Kazakhstan in history, scientists, employees of research institutes, universities. At the breakout sessions, they discussed the issues of teaching history (Kazakhstan and the world) in schools and higher educational institutions, the need to change and update the school curriculum. In the article «Tauelsizdikbarinenkymbat», the President of the country set tasks for historical science. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with universities and research institutes, are actively working to create an Academic multi-volume book on the history of Kazakhstan, the Concept of the development of historical science in Kazakhstan.  In the Message, the President was instructed to amend the legislation so that institutions engaged in fundamental research, including institutes of history, state and law, receive funding not only depending on the grants won, but constantly. Amendments were made to the law and these institutions will now receive permanent funding, and plus, they can participate in grant competitions and receive additional funding. This will certainly affect the quality of scientific research. This is a great support for historians, Askhat Aimagambetov said at the forum.

He also shared his impressions about visiting objects in the North Kazakhstan region: the Palace of Schoolchildren and the educational and laboratory building of our university under construction. «There are big changes in the university, there is a transformation. Training programs are being updated. A new building is being built. It is planned that this facility will be put into operation in September of this year. The most modern equipment. The University is now actively working with its foreign partners, opening two-degree programs. These are, of course, very important undertakings. We will support all these initiatives»" the minister assured.

Well-known scientists in the country, teachers and historians spoke at the congress. They raised the issues of the content of the SES, textbooks and curricula, retraining, advanced training of teachers and others. An exhibition of scientific achievements of teachers, schoolchildren, students of the region in history, archeology and local lore was presented in the lobby.
