Integration of archaeological science and education

More than 2,000 archeological monuments were discovered by scientists of the North Kazakhstan Archaeological Expedition, which has been operating on the basis of our alma mater since 1967. Teachers and students in the field of history annually participate in the excavations of the Scythian settlement Ak-Iriy (5th century BC), the Baikar barrow. A few years ago, our researchers have discovered the Kyzyl-Oba tract in the Ualikhanov district of the North Kazakhstan region, dating back to the Golden Horde era. This proved the presence of an urban culture in the north of Kazakhstan.

A new impetus to such research is given by the conclusion of a memorandum between Kozybayev University and the Institute of Archeology named after A. Kh. Margulan. As a result, it will be possible to conduct more comprehensively study of the archaeological sites of the North Kazakhstan region, and there will be created conditions for full-fledged archaeological expeditions.

“Quality education can only be that which is integrated with scientific research. Therefore, partnership with research institutes is a good practice, as colleagues are at the forefront of science. There are conducted the most relevant scientific research within the framework of targeted and grant funding. Such integration is needed in order to smoothly flow these studies into the curricula of students, ”shared the Board Chairman - Rector Yerlan Shulanov.

The Institute of Archeology named after A. Kh. Margulan is a state institution subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is the coordinating center for archaeological research in the country. Its activities are connected with the study of the origins of the development of our people, cultural heritage, as part of world civilization.
