Double degree programmes are coming!

The University of Arizona delegation visited the university for two days. First, the guests visited the new ULC, which will house 73 state-of-the-art laboratories. Construction is now in full swing. As a reminder, the cooperation with one of the largest American universities (among the top 40 public universities in the United States) is gaining momentum. In prospect - joint two-diploma educational programs that open new prospects for applicants from North-Kazakhstan. They will be able to study for free at two universities, including a semester in Arizona, attend lectures by top professors and improve their English. All of this will make it easy to find a job, not only in Kazakhstan but also in the global job market.

At a meeting with the academic community of Kozybayev University, colleagues discussed issues: the academic policy of our alma mater, preparation of joint educational programs, reviewed the admission procedures, syllabi, curricula and graduation results.

Also, the delegation of the University of Arizona got acquainted with the activities of the largest schools of Petropavlovsk, and met with representatives from the Department of Education of North Kazakhstan. The guests learned about the needs of the region's educators. For example, in small schools there is a lack of English speaking teachers who teach two disciplines: history - geography, chemistry - biology, etc. Besides, colleagues were interested in Kazakhstan's concept of 12-year education.

Representatives from Arizona University met with students in Petropavlovsk in the Palace of Students. About 150 kids were present. They were told about the University of Arizona: educational programmes, campus, scientific developments. By the way, Arizona State University participates in planetary missions of NASA, and implements impressive projects in astrobiology, engineering, medicine, biotechnology.

Since this is the first time a joint project of this scale has been implemented in Kazakhstan, it requires careful planning and cooperation between all parties: the Ministry of Education and Science, the two partner universities and the North Kazakhstan Akimat. Therefore, the work on the preparation of dual degree educational programmes will continue. We hope that in the new academic year the first students will already be able to study on them.
