80 000 tenge for start-up

“Science can be a profitable business,” the students of our university decided and took part in the competition of scientific Start-up projects. It was organized among undergraduate and graduate students by the Council of Young Scientists of Kozybayev University together with the Student Government.

In total, 8 projects were selected for the final from the guys from FMNS, FEDT and AF. The final competition was held openly, in the format of a discussion platform. Anyone could come to the defense of scientific ideas and ask questions to the contestants. The panel of judges simultaneously evaluated each performance: novelty, practical significance, payback, etc.

According to the results of the competition, the winners were:
- Oleg Smolin (FEDT, group RISP-21) with the project "Portable scientific data collection station for research work";
- Polina Savelyeva (FMNS, gr. KhTOV-19). Her startup: "Development of modified bitumen-mineral compositions for road surfaces using polymer recycling products";
- Stepan Sarychev (AF, gr. CCI-20) Theme of work: “Fermented low-alcohol milk drink “MolVin”. It is planned to file a recipe for a patent.

The winners received cash prizes of 80,000 tenge to promote their scientific project. Now, within a year, they need to introduce their startup into production and write a publication in a publication recommended by CQAES MES RK.
