Kasym-Jomart Tokayev visited the new educational and laboratory building

During the working visit to the North Kazakhstan Region, the Head of State got acquainted with the educational, research activities and development strategy of the university. Today, more than 6 thousand students study here. Including dual degree programs with the University of Arizona.

A new educational and laboratory building has been opened at the university, designed for 2,000 students and equipped with all the necessary equipment for conducting research.

Kasym-Jomart Tokayev inspected the laboratory of unmanned aerial vehicles, where students are trained to analyze data from remote sensing of the earth using GIS technology. The President was also shown the centers of innovative methods for obtaining details of complex configuration, simulation training and practical skills. Presented a laboratory for assessing the quality of agricultural products and their safety.

The Head of State also noted the need to introduce international best practices and open branches of foreign universities in the country.

– We invite leading universities to open their branches with us. I have invited Russian technical universities to cooperate. Physical and technical opened in KazNU in Almaty, the branch of the Russian University of Oil and Gas – in Atyrau. Recently I was in Xi'an, where I noted that we are interested in the fact that the leading Chinese universities of technical profile also opened their branches with us. I think this is all useful, because knowledge is international cooperation, and knowledge is transnational in nature. There are countries that have gone ahead in their development. There are countries that are lagging behind, but are trying to catch up with the advanced states. Therefore, there are very great prospects in this area. I think that Kazakhstan will be an advanced country in terms of knowledge development. I hope very much for you," said Kasym–Jomart Tokayev.

Chairman of the Board – Rector of Kozybayev University Yerlan Shulanov presented the university's development strategy for the coming years: "We are working on fulfilling your instructions. This is the opening of a branch of the University of Arizona. The project is in the process of implementation. Since last year, 150 people have already started studying with us. A new building has been launched at the university, 4 dormitories for 1,500 are being built, which will cover the needs of students for accommodation."
