The cooperation of our university with the Northwestern University of Agriculture and Forestry of China (Yangling, Shaanxi Province) is carried out within the framework of the Silk Road Alliance of Agricultural Education and Scientific Innovations, which Kozybayev University joined in July 2017. The creation of a joint Agro-competence center will allow improving educational and scientific directions in crop production, animal husbandry and food safety.
Such a research hub contributes to the development of the agricultural sector in the northern region of our country. Today, Kozybayev University implements projects on wheat variety testing. The next goal is research in the field of animal husbandry. Given that our region occupies a leading position in milk production in Kazakhstan, one of the main branches of study will be the dairy field.
The agreement on the establishment of the Agro–Competence Center was signed by Acting Chairman of the Board - Rector Renata Apergenova and Vice-Rector of the Northwestern University of Agriculture and Forestry Wei Gyhong. In his speech, he noted the importance of such a step for the two countries: "We hope that the creation of a joint center for agricultural competencies contributes to even greater cooperation between China and Kazakhstan. We will work in this center with our university's slogan: "Loyalty, simplicity, courage and perseverance" and with the concept that the agricultural sector is a foundation to solve the people's wellbeing issues. To do this, we are opening a research laboratory and will increase investments in the project."
Kozybayev University will also launch a joint program of double-degree education for undergraduates with the Ministry of Agriculture of China. In addition, the possibility of free doctoral studies at a partner university is being implemented. Today, two teachers of our university have already become the holders of such a grant. The collaboration between the two universities is also aimed at the exchange of students. As a result, 13 Chinese students arrived from Yangling to study at Kozybayev University. And 11 North Kazakhstan students went to study in China.
