Expressing our deepest condolences to the relatives of Professor Zinaida Petrovna Tabakova

Professor Zinaida Petrovna Tabakova, Doctor of Philology passed away on January 18, 2024. The scientist was 86 years old, more than half of which she devoted to work at M.Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University.

Zinaida Tabakova was born on October 9, 1937, in emigration in China. Later, she moved to Kazakhstan with her parents.

In 1962, she graduated from K.D. Ushinsky Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Russian Language and Literature.

Since 1971, she began working as a teacher at the Russian Language and Literature Department of M.Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University.

In 1979, she defended candidate's dissertation about functions of prepositional syntactic forms in modern Russian. In 1994, she defended her PhD thesis on «Structural and semantic types of verbless sentences in modern Russian». In 1986, she was awarded the academic title of docent by decision of the Higher Attestation Commission under the USSR Ministers Council.

Since 1981, she has worked as head of chair Russian Language. After disciplines unification, from 1997 to 2015 she was head of chair Russian Language and Literature.

In 1998, she was awarded the academic title of professor in the specialty Linguistics.

The scientist has more than 300 scientific works behind her – these are monographs, scientific and methodological manuals and textbooks. She made a huge contribution to the science development in Kazakhstan.

Zinaida Petrovna was awarded numerous diplomas, badges and gratitude letters. In 2009, she became an Honorary citizen of the North Kazakhstan region.

Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek expresses his condolences:

Professor Zinaida Petrovna Tabakova, Doctor of Philology, has died. She was 86 years old. For more than 50 years she worked at the North Kazakhstan University named after Manash Kozybayev, almost 30 of which she headed the department of Russian Language and Literature. The scientist has more than 300 scientific works behind – such as monographs, scientific and methodological manuals and textbooks. She has made a huge contribution to the development of science both at the university and in our country. Zinaida Petrovna was awarded numerous diplomas, badges and gratitude letters. Since 2009, she has become an Honorary citizen of the North Kazakhstan region. I express my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Zinaida Tabakova!

Acting Chairman of the Board – Rector of M.Kozybayev NKU Renata Seitovna Apergenova expresses her condolences:

Zinaida Petrovna devoted her whole life to teaching and scientific and practical activities. We all witnessed how she tirelessly shared her knowledge and experience with students and colleagues. As a professor, Doctor of Philology, Zinaida Petrovna made a huge contribution to the development of the North Kazakhstan University. Zinaida Petrovna has lived an amazing life. She will always remain in our memory as a cheerful, goal-oriented, active and smiling person.

Also, condolences are expressed by Undasyn Baykenovich Ashimov, rector of M. Kozybayev NKSU in 2002-2016:

Zinaida Petrovna, working for many years as the head of Russian Language and Literature Department, being a philology doctor, professor, made a huge contribution to the training and upbringing of the younger generation of specialists, researchers for many sectors of the economy, social and cultural spheres of the country. She was an open, sincere, reasonable, fair and honest person. She was an active member of the University Academic Council, her opinion was always taken into account when making important strategic decisions on the prospects for the university development. This was especially important during the reform of the education system in the country, during the time of our joint work at NKSU. Thanks to her, a scientific school in the field of Russian philology has been established and is effectively operating at the university. She was respected and loved by the staff and students of the university. May she rest in peace. Please convey my sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Zinaida Petrovna.

Galym Mutanovich Mutanov, who worked as the University rector from 1995 to 2002, also expresses his condolences:

The death of an incredible scientist, teacher, corresponding member of the National Academy of Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Worker of the Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, doctor of philology, professor Zinaida Petrovna is an irreparable loss for national science and education.

Zinaida Petrovna devoted her whole life to scientific and pedagogical activities. Always showing an active civic position, working hard for the prosperity of the country, Zinaida Petrovna enjoyed well-deserved respect among the public and left behind many significant scientific studies and followers of her cause. Her performances were distinguished by her amazing erudition, deep knowledge of the subject, lively research interest in scientific and practical problems.

I remember her as an extremely intelligent, kind, sensitive to the mental state of others, an open and cheerful person. She will remain in memory as a professional, an example of faithful, selfless service to her cause, a true Scientist and a real Teacher.

I express my sincere sympathy to colleagues, family and friends.

Zinaida Petrovna has lived a beautiful life full of research, scientific and educational activities. Her articles, books, and monographs have already been inscribed in the history of domestic science. And everyone who knew and communicated with her will forever keep a grateful memory of her.
