Evgenia Borgul, designer at KU publishing and printing department, as well as senior teachers of FEDT's construction and design chair, Julia Popova and Irina Shashkina, received a copyright certificate for artwork. The artists have prepared illustrations for the fairy tales of Kazakhstan's folk. In their artistic endeavors, the creators reimagined portrayal of beloved fairy tale characters.
The university's staff notes that modern illustrations will be able to capture the interest of young people in literature. "By redesigning the books, we can carefully transfer the original content into a new "package"", the designers believe.
Kazakh fairy tales are a major constituent element of Kazakh culture. They are famous for their captivating plots and profound wisdom, and more than one generation has been raised on them. With a fresh design and illustrations, even the youngest readers will be drawn to the book, inspiring a love of Kazakh folk art in them. A digital version with animation has also been created for the collection of Kazakh tales, enabling users to view it on tablets and phones. Senior lecturer Yulia Popova emphasized the importance of this initiative. She said that the new design will capture the imagination of young people and help them appreciate Kazakh folklore.
The team of authors are confident that the new design will give the books a unique touch and refresh readers' perceptions of Kazakh folk tales, as well as attracting a new audience. This is the first time that such a patent has been obtained by university staff.
