Student scientific society “Current problems of modern literary criticism”, functioning at the department of “Russian language and literature” of SKU named after. M. Kozybaeva, annually holds a scientific and practical conference “Folklore and literature in the dialogue of cultures.” This year the conference is dedicated to the legacy of the outstanding poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev. During the Science Days of the North Kazakhstan University named after Manash Kozybayev on March 29, 2024, a regional scientific and practical conference “Folklore and literature in the dialogue of cultures: current problems of modern Abai studies” was organized. The report “The Great Poet of the Kazakh People Abai Kunanbayev” was made by Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer Sabina Sovetovna Agibaeva, Chairman of the Conference Organizing Committee. It revealed the originality of Abai’s philosophical and aesthetic thought, the innovation of his artistic creativity in the context of the traditions of world literature. 1st year student of the specialty “Russian Language and Literature” (RL-23) Diana Mayevskaya made a presentation “Studying the creative heritage of Abai”, placing Abay studies in the context of domestic and world literary studies. A student of the RL-23 group, Daria Stepanenko, conducted a comparative analysis of the image of Alexander the Great by Nizami Ganjavi and Abay. A creative program - reading in Kazakh the “Sixth Word” from “Words of Edification” - was prepared by first-year student Anastasia Romanenko. The conference was attended by 3rd and 4th year students, as well as Russian language teachers from city and regional schools, experienced teacher-researchers, expert teachers, a teacher-moderator and a young teacher-trainee. They noted the high level of the reports, admired the insightful reading of “The Sixth Word,” noted the productivity of collaboration with the Student Scientific Society, and wished the teachers and students new discoveries. Speakers and teachers were awarded personal certificates of participants in the regional scientific and practical conference “Folklore and literature in the dialogue of cultures: current problems of modern Abai studies.”
