Joint research activities in crop production, animal production and water resources, the implementation of double-degree educational programs, an academic exchange of students, the bilateral internships for teachers – and this isn’t even a complete list of areas in which a seven-year collaboration between Kozybayev University and China’s NWAFU has been realizing.
This week, a delegation from a partner university arrived. Professor of the College of Animal Science and Technology Jonlian Zhang, associate professors of the College of Water Resources and Architectural Engineering Yan'an Jiang and Li Min met with the leadership of Kozybayev University and the Agrotechnology Faculty.
"Over the years of cooperation, we have achieved a lot. Currently, 12 bachelors and 10 of our master students are studying at Kozybayev University through academic mobility. Last year, 3 of your teachers completed courses on modern technologies in animal production in the China. We conduct joint research and publish the results in journals with a high impact factor. Kozybayev University launched joint laboratories on animal production and plant biotechnology. They were provided with equipment," said Jonlian Zhang.
Chairman of the Executive Board – Rector Yerbol Issakaev welcomed their strategic partners and noted that the President of the RK paid special attention to the development of science in his Message and, in particular, to the problems of water quality, irrigation and water supply.
"The Northwest A&F University is one of the best in the world when it comes to water research. Therefore, the signing of a trilateral memorandum between it, the Kozybayev University and the University of Arizona (USA) on the creation of a joint Water Resources Center is very important for us. A preliminary agreement has also been reached on the creation of a consortium of scientists from three regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan for research of water resources, irrigation, food security, and livestock farming. I suggest considering your participation in it as partners. We also need to create a Roadmap for cooperation. Another important idea is to develop a joint program to train North Kazakhstan farmers in agricultural technologies in China. Because our partnership is important not only for the two universities, but also for our entire region, therefore helping agricultural producers, solving problems in the agricultural sector,” as Yerbol Issakayev addressed to his Chinese partners.
