At the university, the solemn opening of the named auditorium of Vera Yavorskaya took place. Vera Nikitichna was a labor veteran, a home front worker, an excellent educator of the Kazakh SSR, an honored tourist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a local historian, and a tour guide of the highest category. Most of her eventful life was connected with our university. After graduating from the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute named after K.D. Ushinsky, she got a job at her alma mater. As a result, she worked in the Department of Geography and Ecology for almost half a century. During this period, she managed to train hundreds of young specialists and scientists. V.N. Yavorskaya left behind a great legacy: books, articles, video lectures, and talented poems. The central theme of her work was the study of her native land, love for the small homeland. At the event, relatives, friends, colleagues, and associates of Vera Yavorskaya shared warm memories, noting her great contribution to geographical science and local history.
“Vera Nikitichna is a well-known geographer and local historian in the region. One can talk about her endlessly because her sphere of activity was very diverse. She was both the best lecturer and the best tour guide. She was a freelance correspondent for newspapers and magazines. She collaborated with regional television, the North Kazakhstan Regional Museum of Local History, the Botanical Garden, the National Center for Advanced Training "Өrleu", and the creative group of geography teachers of the region. But she was also a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. It was she who instilled in us a love for our native land and our genealogy. Thanks to her work in the archives, we learned that our family settled here in North Kazakhstan 265 years ago," said V.N. Yavorskaya's daughter, Olga Mikhaylova.
Lectures and practical classes for students will be conducted in the named auditorium. From the stands and informational materials, students will be able to learn more about our distinguished teacher.
