Our Students Have Developed Environmentally Friendly Biodegradable Tableware

Within the framework of the "Sustainability Living Lab" program, implemented by the corporate fund "National Conservation Initiative" in collaboration with Nazarbayev University, our scientists received funding for the implementation of the "EcoWare" project. Senior lecturer of the Department of Food Security, Elena Il, and students Alina Gulenko and Danil Zenin developed eco-tableware according to their own recipe from wheat grains.

The project aims to promote environmentally friendly solutions, reduce plastic and paper waste on the campus of Kozybayev University. Our eco-tableware can be composted, decomposes under the influence of bacteria and moisture, which reduces the amount of waste sent for disposal. It does not harm animals, insects, or birds when eaten. It reduces dependence on petroleum products used in the production of traditional plastics.
