A regional Olympiad in English

From February 13 to February 14, 2025, on the basis of the Manash Kozybaev North Kazakhstan University, a regional Olympiad in English was held among students of the 1st year of non-linguistic specialties. Students of six educational institutions of the region took part in the Olympiad:- North Kazakhstan University named after Manash Kozybayev - 25 participants;- Peter and Paul College of Mechanical Engineering and Transport named after Baiken Ashimov - 4 participants;- Higher Construction and Economics College - 3 participants;- Humanities and Technical College - 4 participants;- Magzhan Zhumabayev Higher College - 4 participants;- North Kazakhstan Higher Medical College named after Zhumagali Tleulin - 4 participants.The main goal of the Olympiad is to popularize the English language among students in the region, as well as to increase interest in learning foreign languages.The first tour included tasks on grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, writing. According to the results of the first round, the top ten students were determined, who in the second round had to demonstrate communication skills and English language skills. To assess the skills of students, a jury was formed as part of the teaching staff of the Department of Foreign Languages: S. Aubakirova, Ph.D., senior lecturer; I.Kh. Aleshkina, Master, Senior Lecturer; N.V. Bubnova, Master, Senior Lecturer.The seats were distributed as follows:1st place - Temirbolat Dimash, gr. BM (KZ-US) -24-2 (head: D.A. Tleubaeva);2nd place - Mamasharipov Abay, gr. S-24 (head: Ismagambetova L.Sh.),Ivleva Elena, gr.NOIP (US) -24 (head: I.Kh. Aleshkina);3rd place - Zheңіs Merey, gr. and (o) -24k (head: Ismagambetova L.Sh.),Esmukanov Daniyal, gr. BM (KZ-US) -24-1 (head: Syrymbetova D.S.),Bauyrzhankyzy Aruna, gr. BM (KZ-US) -24-2k (head: D.A. Tleubaeva).The Olympiad in English among students of the 1st year of non-linguistic specialties was successful, providing participants with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills. The event contributed to the development of students' language competencies and strengthening the connection between educational institutions in the region. The winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad showed excellent results, which is evidence of the high level of training of students.
