Informational Meeting on the Draft of the New Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan

On February 19, 2026, an informational meeting dedicated to the publication of the draft of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is planned to be submitted to a national referendum on March 15, was held.

Students of groups ISU-24-2 and BM-24-2 took part in the event. The meeting was organized by Senior Lecturers of the Department of Foreign Languages, L.Sh. Ismagambetova and T.N. Korablina. Students of group BM-24-2 — D. Kastaev, Z. Bapashova, S. Egorova, and Zh. Zhandossova — prepared the materials and conducted the meeting.

During the meeting, the key areas of the proposed constitutional amendments were discussed:

  • reasons for adopting a new version of the Constitution;

  • changes in the system of state governance;

  • strengthening the rights and freedoms of citizens;

  • issues of social policy and state support;

  • economic development, property regulation, and regional development;

  • sovereignty, citizenship, and international relations;

  • public participation in governance.

The students discussed why updating the Constitution is necessary in modern conditions, what challenges the country is facing, and how the proposed changes may influence social and political life.

Special attention was given to understanding the Constitution as a social contract between the state and the people. It was emphasized that it is important not only to be aware of the upcoming referendum but also to understand the essence of the proposed changes, their significance for every citizen, and their impact on everyday life.

The draft Constitution was presented not merely as a set of amendments, but as an attempt to strengthen statehood, protect human rights and freedoms, and create a solid foundation for Kazakhstan’s sustainable development in the future.

At the end of the meeting, the lecturers encouraged students to demonstrate an active civic position, mutual respect, and a responsible attitude toward socially significant issues. It was noted that the future of our country depends on each of us.

The meeting became an important step toward fostering legal awareness and civic responsibility among students.
