Visit of eminent guests

Talgat Musabayev, the Chairman of the National Space Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Alexander Viktorenko, Cosmonaut, 1^st Class, Hero of the Soviet Union visited our university.

Guests were met near the University Alley of Honor where they together with Samat Yeskendirov, Akim of North Kazakhstan region, took part in trees planting. Then they visited the University observatory, unique in the country, and Museum Complex of NKSU named after M. Kozybayev. Besides the materials on the University history, there was an exhibition dedicated to honorable guests.

At the meeting with lecturers and students cosmonauts noted that NKSU is a HEI which has trained professional staff necessary for our country for tens of years. Students were interested in the future of Kazakhstan’s space industry. Talgat Amangeldiyevich emphasized that thanks to our own Baikonur Cosmodrome, we must be among the leading countries in this sphere.

Alexander Viktorenko, our fellow-countryman, born in Shal Akyn district, told students that he was always very glad to come to native land where he had grown up and studied.

At the end of the meeting Talgat Musabayev and Alexander Viktorenko were awarded the title of Honorable Professors of NKSU.
