Monitoring of the TRUNAK project

On November 19, 2019, the Erasmus+ TRUNAK project Transition to University autonomy in Kazakhstan was monitored at the Karaganda Medical University.

M. Kozybayev NKSU has been a participant of this project since 2017. The main results of the project implementation for two years were presented to the national office of Erasmus+ during the project monitoring. It was noted that during this period, an in-depth study of the current state of autonomy of Kazakh universities was conducted. Kazakh partners studied the European experience in the field of autonomy, selected examples of best practices. Special attention was paid by the consortium members to the project impact at the individual, institutional and national level. The project allowed to develop managerial skills of top managers of the highest and middle level, skills of system and creative thinking, skills on development of normative documentation. At the institutional level, Kazakhstan consortium members expanded the independence of structural units, updated the structure of internal quality assurance systems, revised Academic policies, Admission rules and other documents.

Director of the national office of Erasmus+, Tasbulatov SH. M. noted that already now the project has a tangible result at the national level. In the MOH and the Ministry made proposals to change the legislative framework in the field of higher education, including the Code "On nation health and health system". Participants of the consortium developed and proposed a new model for the development of autonomy of universities in Kazakhstan.  However, the monitoring showed that in the near future it is necessary to develop a strategy for the sustainability of the project, specify the dissemination strategy of project results, and strengthen the cooperation between universities of the consortium.
