About the intricacies of publishing in journals with nonzero impact factor reported by young scientists of M. Kozybayev NKSU

One of the main criteria for the importance of scientific journals in the world of modern science is the journal's impact factor (IF) - an indicator determined by the number of citations or links to articles in a given periodical. This mechanism was used for the first time in the 60s of the twentieth century in the United States. Currently, in Kazakhstan, in order to defend a doctoral thesis, it is necessary that at least one article be published in journals with a non-zero impact factor.

The Council of young scientists of M. Kozybayev NKSU held a scientific and practical seminar "Problems of writing articles in publications with a non-zero impact factor" for undergraduates and doctoral students of the University. The speakers were the Chairman of CYS Pavel Petrov and members of the CYS Maxim Rakhmatulin and Konstantin Zhadan.

During the event, they discussed the procedure for publication in journals with a non-zero impact factor, learned how to use the Scopus and Web of Science databases, and how to avoid getting an article in a "predatory" journal. The latter involves charging the authors of manuscripts without providing full-fledged editorial or publishing services (including a full-fledged review system), accepted in these scientific journals.

In the discussion that followed the speeches, the CYS members gave comprehensive answers to the audience's questions.
