Bright memory of an outstanding scientist and manager

On June 8, 2020, Viktor Petrovich Gusakov passed away.

Victor Petrovich devoted a labor biography to the development and improvement of the education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

After graduating from the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Physics in 1969, Gusakov V.P. He was sent to graduate school of the A.A.Baykov Institute of Metallurgy of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Having defended his thesis, in 1977, he returned to the Department of Physics of the Peter and Paul Pedagogical Institute. In 1980, Gusakov V.P. was awarded the title of associate professor. In 1995, by the decision of the Scientific Council, he was awarded the academic title of professor of M. Kozybayev NKSU.

From 1982 to 1984, he headed the Department of Physics, and from 1984 to 2002, he was the dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, transformed in 1997 into the Faculty of Information Technology. From 2002 to 2009, he worked as Vice-rector for Academic work at the university, and from 2009 to 2014, he acted as head of the Department of Physics. After leaving the post of head until 2017, he remained a professor at the Department of Physics.

Working as Dean of the Faculty, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Gusakov V.P. showed knowledge of the case, excellent organizational skills, creative attitude to work. He was inherent in an energetic and decisive style of work, but at the same time, in communicating with students and colleagues, sensitivity, justice and a sense of a real sense of time were noted.

For the organization and management of the educational process at the university under the guidance of Gusakov V.P. an educational portal and an electronic administration have been developed and implemented, with its participation, a significant reconstruction of the educational part has been carried out - educational-methodical, educational-innovative and dispatching services have been formed, the first in the RK “Virtual Academy of Schoolchildren” has been opened, a quality management center has been organized.

Professor Gusakov V.P. lectured on the course of general and theoretical physics, under his guidance many diploma works, master's and PhD theses were defended.

Gusakov V.P. wrote more than 170 scientific papers, was a regular participant in scientific and scientific-methodological conferences, both in the Republic and abroad.

From 1978 to 1990, under his leadership, on a contractual basis, a set of research work was carried out for the engineering plants of Petropavlovsk.

From 2004 to 2008, he took an active part in the implementation of research topics on grants from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan related to the automation of the monitoring and quality management system of higher education.

Gusakov V.P. always showed an example of creative activity, high efficiency and organization to my colleagues, especially young specialists.

For his diligent work, Viktor Petrovich was awarded an Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Education of the Kazakh SSR (1987), a badge “Excellence in Public Education of the Kazakh SSR” (1991), a Letter of Appreciation from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001), and the Badge “Honorary Worker of Education” (2006), the breastplate “Y. Altynsarin” (2017).

The university staff will forever remember the high professionalism of Viktor Petrovich, his exceptional capacity for work, exactingness for himself and others, as well as sincerity, personal charm and willingness to always understand a person and help him.
