On the assessment of the quality of educational services by external and internal stakeholders

Kozybayev University regularly surveys external stakeholders, students and teachers. This allows you to take into account the needs and expectations of students, to give an independent assessment of the competencies of graduates, the teaching activities of the teaching staff, and therefore, to increase the level of educational services.

In the past academic year, 11 different surveys were conducted, covering more than 11,000 respondents, according to the assessments of the quality of teaching activities of the teaching staff by students, undergraduates and doctoral students, professional qualities of colleagues, the emotional state of children in self-isolation. In addition, questionnaires were held on the organization of distance learning, training at the military department, the implementation of the principles of academic honesty in the university, as well as determining the level of research skills of students and others.

In addition, 115 employers and leading specialists of organizations and enterprises where our former students work were interviewed. They assessed 35 core competencies of Kozybayev University graduates. For the first time since 2016, the respondents did not note that their professional skills and skills needed to be improved, and the level of knowledge and competitiveness were considered “high” and “very high”. 60% of employers give preference to graduates of our alma mater when hiring. And 73% also recommend these specialists to their colleagues. Based on a comprehensive analysis, it was proposed to strengthen personal, organizational, managerial and linguistic competencies.

Graduates of bachelor's and master's degrees annually assess the quality of the educational process, its results, as well as the conditions of study and living in hostels. For several years, the level of work of their advisers and leaders of diploma / course projects, the quality of basic, special and compulsory disciplines have been considered high. The lowest level of graduates of 2020 qualified the level of catering and medical support, the state of the classroom fund, the provision of laboratory equipment and visual materials. The results of the survey showed that 71% were satisfied with studying at the alma mater, and they would again choose our university, if they retrain. Year by year, the percentage of graduates who, finishing the last course, do not know the place of their future work decreases. And, at the same time, the percentage of self-employed, as well as those to whom the position was recommended by the university, is growing.

The survey "Teaching staff through the eyes of students" has been conducted regularly since 2008. The results for each teacher are provided by the heads of departments. For several years, such qualities as knowledge of the subject, exactingness, organization of independent work, organization and concentration have been rated above all.

The results of the questionnaire survey on the assessment of the professional qualities of teachers by colleagues showed that they give high scores for competence in their professional field, compliance with ethical standards in relationships with colleagues and students, striving for personal and professional self-development, skills of constructive conflict resolution. Improvement requires the participation of teaching staff in scientific research, the use of innovative teaching methods and information technology.
