International online forum for the development and promotion of compliance

An international online forum for the development and promotion of compliance in Kazakhstan was held with the participation of representatives of government agencies and national companies, as well as experts from Russia, the United States, Israel, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. Our university was represented by the Chief Compliance Officer, Academic Officer Inna Dzhemaledinova. The event was organized by the Anti-Corruption Agency in cooperation with KPMG, the KazBar Chamber of Legal Advisers and the Legal Policy Research Center public foundation.

Opening the event, First Deputy Chairman of the Agency Olzhas Bektenov noted the importance of combining the efforts of the state, civil society and business in order to strengthen the anti-corruption system in Kazakhstan.

According to O. Bektenov, the institution of anti-corruption compliance services, responsible for observing corporate integrity standards in organizations of the quasi-public sector, has been introduced into the Law "On Combating Corruption".

In her speech, the deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament Gulnara Bizhanova said about the importance of understanding by the heads of companies of the need for effective work of compliance services. It was proposed to expand their competence with the functions of controlling regulatory risks, to ensure independence from various governing bodies, and to provide for their creation in the private sector.

In turn, the chairman of the “KazBar” chamber of legal consultants Zhumageldy Elyubaev focused on the priority tasks of compliance services, such as ensuring professional ethics and business integrity of business.

Of particular interest to the forum participants was the topic of digitalization of compliance functions, namely the building of a compliance system on the CompliancePlatform 365 // 360 platform and automation of monitoring the risks of counterparties and employees of the organization. At the end of the event, an agreement was reached on the exchange of best practices with international experts and the development of legislative initiatives to further improve compliance.
