Kozybayev University master's student wins silver medal at the republican championship in media literacy

The championship "True or False" in Nur-Sultan was held with the support of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of grant funding from the NPLC "Center for Support of Civil Initiatives". The organizer was the public organization "United children and youth organization "Zhas Ulan".

Media and information literacy have become very hot topics now. In the modern world, every day we come across scandalous headlines, various fakes on the Internet (fake videos and photographs, provocative mailings, slander and rumors). Learning to understand the information consumed is one of the main objectives of this tournament.

The championship was attended by 20 teams from different regions of the country, 5 people in each. Bogdan Petrov, a master student of Kozybayev University, a compliance academic officer of the PO Sanaly Urpaq of our university, was included in the team of the North Kazakhstan region.

In the brain-ring format, the guys competed in 3 rounds on topics such as fact-checking, fake news, propaganda, information hygiene and others. As a result, our participants adequately presented the NKR system and took second place! They received a certificate for 80 thousand tenge and diplomas of prize-winners. Congratulations!
