The name of Avimskaya Lyudmila Alexandrovna is listed in the book of Honor of the University
Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Avimskaya was born in 1927 in the city of Petropavlovsk, North Kazakhstan Region. Lyudmila Alexandrovna began her professional career in the North Kazakhstan Regional Library in 1943 as the head of the department of acquisition and processing of literature. In 1956, Avimskaya was appointed the head of the library of the Petropavlovsk Teachers' Institute, later transformed into a pedagogical institute, and then into M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan State University. In 1963 she graduated from the N.K. Krupskaya Leningrad State Institute of Culture. Krupskaya, majoring in Librarianship, devoted her whole life to library work, which was her real vocation. Before retiring in 1993, she headed the library.
Lyudmila Alexandrovna worked at the university for about 50 years. Her biography contains a living history of the institute, its formation and development. In those years, the library of the Petropavlovsk Teachers' Institute, in which Lyudmila Alexandrovna began working, was in the building on Partizanskaya Street. She occupied the whole room, there was no reading room. In 1959, the institute was given a new building on Pushkin Street. There the library already had a reading room, and a subscription occupied three rooms. Heading the library for several decades, L. Avimskaya played a big role in its formation: she was able to make decisions, highlight promising areas in her work. Already in the 70s of the last century, the library under her leadership became a major cultural center of Northern Kazakhstan: its fund totaled up to half a million storage units. Each year it increased by 15-17 thousand copies of books, brochures, magazines in Russian, Kazakh and foreign languages. In 1977, the library expanded significantly due to the construction of a new building: a reference and bibliographic department, 2 reading rooms, 2 subscriptions were opened, and the staff increased. A friendly team of like-minded people is being formed, among them: N.V. Gryzova, N.A. Shorokhova, M.A. Devyatkinka, K.D. Boyarskaya, N.F. Olkhovskaya, A.P. Greylich, N.Zh. Nurzhaupova and etc. Lyudmila Aleksandrovna has always been distinguished by her rare endurance, sensitive, even and respectful attitude towards employees and students. She knew how to be friends, take care of her employees, and defend the interests of the library and the institute. She was loved and respected not only by the library staff, but also by the entire staff of the educational institution. Seven times she was elected secretary of the party organization of the institute’s administration. Years passed, the older generation was replaced by young librarians, just as in love with their profession. Many students of Lyudmila Alexandrovna work in the library.
Lyudmila Aleksandrovna Avimskaya was awarded with Diplomas of the Ministry of Education of the Kazakh SSR, the badge “An Excellence in Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, medals “For Valiant Labor during the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945”, and “Veteran of Labor”. For many years of conscientious work, active participation in the public life of the institute, the name of Avimskaya, Lyudmila Alexandrovna, is listed in the Book of Honor of the university.
