Nadezhda Fyodorovna Olkhovskaya was born on October 19, 1941 in the Aksu district of Taldy-Kurgan region. After graduating from the Lexinsky Library College in 1955, she received a specialty as a librarian of a mass library. And since that time, she has been faithful to this profession all her life.
She joined the library of the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute named after K.D. Ushinsky as a librarian in 1964. At the same time, she studied extramural at the same institute, majoring in teacher of Russian language and literature, which she successfully graduated in 1970. She worked her way up from librarian to head of the same library, having worked in general for about 35 years at this educational institution.
Sociable, erudite, polite, tactful. A true leader of librarianship, Nadezhda Fyodorovna has always been aware of all the events taking place in the library. She not only beautifully designed book exhibitions, conducted literature reviews, literary evenings and readers' conferences, but also took an active part in the social life of the university. She has always enjoyed great authority and respect among both students and teachers.
In 1994, she became the director of her native library. These were difficult years not only for the library, but also for the university as a whole. The Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute and the Higher Technical College merged into a single North Kazakhstan State University. The library, accordingly, has also undergone major changes. The library staff has increased, the library fund has been significantly replenished with books on philosophy, history and other humanities due to the donation of the library of the House of Political Education and the library of the Trade Union Committee of the Lenin Plant to the university. There was a lot of work, but her sociable nature, professionalism, understanding of the essence of the problems gave the team confidence in solving and implementing the most difficult tasks. The team was replenished with specialists with higher library education: Balashova N.B., Temirova G.N., Makarenko O.M., Kalantyreva T. E. and others, who are still working in the library.
For her impeccable work, active participation in public life and the training of highly qualified specialists, Nadezhda Fedorovna Olkhovskaya was repeatedly encouraged by university Certificates of Honor and Letters of Thanks from the Ministry of Education of the Kazakh SSR, and was also awarded the medal "Veteran of Labor" (1984), the badge "Excellent of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (1998), "The Great Gold Medal of the NKSU named after M.Kozybayev" (2012).
Now, being on a well-deserved rest, Nadezhda Fyodorovna constantly keeps in touch with her native library, where she is always welcome and always expected.
