Vermiculation as a way of transition to organic farming in the forest-steppe of Northern Kazakhstan

Project goal: The goal of the joint scientific activities of the university and the vermiferm of IE Strelets A.V. is the promotion, popularization of "green" technologies and the development of scientific and methodological materials for agricultural specialists.

Project оbjectives:

In the modern world, the issue of food and their quality is very acute. According to WTO forecasts, by 2050 the number of people on the planet will increase to 9.1 billion people, and soils suitable for agriculture will be reduced by 40-45 percent. Excessive use of chemical fertilizers and intensive use of soils for agriculture has led to mineralization of the soil and contamination in extremely dangerous doses by heavy metals, pesticides of fields and reservoirs.

Environmental problems hurt everyone, regardless of age, gender, profession and social status. The purpose of the joint scientific activities of the university and the vermiferm of IE Strelets AV is the promotion, popularization of "green" technologies and the development of scientific and methodological materials for agricultural specialists.

The strategic goal of the project is to become the best brand in Kazakhstan for the production on an industrial scale of 100% organic fertilizer and organic food.

Project results:

- public health through the consumption of environmentally friendly products;

- increase in soil fertility and crop yields;

- accelerated and better processing of various organic wastes: food, agriculture and industry, sewage sludge and treatment facilities, waste from processing plants and the food industry;

- creation of new jobs.
