On 19-20 March, a training seminar on the research and evaluation of university autonomy was held on the basis of the European University Association (EUA) in the framework of the Erasmus+ project "TRUNAK Transition to University Autonomy in Kazakhstan"
The staff of the European University Association provided information on the definition of university autonomy, its advantages and structural conditions based on European benchmarking.
In accordance with the autonomy assessment system developed by the European Association of Universities, TRUNAK consortium partners were trained in the methodology for collecting and analyzing information on the current state of autonomy. This approach is based on the analysis of indicators for four areas of autonomy: organizational, financial, personnel and academic.
Participants of the seminar were representatives of universities of Kazakhstan (Karaganda State Medical University, M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan State University, East Kazakhstan State Medical University, Atyrau State University named after Kh. Dosmukhamedov, Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, M. Ospanov West Kazakhstan State Medical University) and European universities (Savonia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), Catholic University Universita Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore (Italy), Lublin University of Technology (Poland), the Aga Khan University-Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilization (UK), Lund University (Sweden), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).
Director of Strategy, Quality and Internationalization Department and project manager – M.V. Pogrebitskaya, Senior lecturer of "Germanic-Romance Philology" department and project coordinator – T.K. Sagitdinova, Head of International Cooperation and Internationalization division and project researcher – R.K. Shotkin attended the seminar as representatives from M. Kozybayev NKSU.
As part of the further implementation of the TRUNAK project, in April and May 2018, Kazakhstan universities will participate in the research of autonomy processes according to EAU methodology. The results of the research will be analyzed by the European University Association and presented to the academic community. The result of the work of the TRUNAK consortium members will be the development of an agreed model of university autonomy of Kazakhstan universities, based on the experience of European countries in the development of university autonomy and the results of research.
