Gusakov Viktor Petrovich was born on October 20, 1946 in a family of teachers. Mom worked as a biology teacher at Mamlut School. Father – Pyotr Romanovich for 25 years headed the Mamlyutsky district Department of Public education. After graduating from Mamlut Secondary School, V.P. Gusakov enrolled the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute, and then transferred to the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute for the specialty "Physics". Strong-willed and ambitious, he started scientific research as a student.

From 1969 to 1971. Gusakov Viktor Petrovich works as a teacher of the Department of Physics of the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute. Diligence and conscientiousness, intelligence and erudition contributed to his admission to the postgraduate course of the Moscow Institute of Metallurgy named after A.A. Baykov of the USSR Academy of Sciences. There, in the laboratory of semiconductor materials, he was formed as a scientist and researcher. Working in the field of semiconductor electronics for low-temperature spacecraft, Viktor Petrovich designed an original cryostat and received an author's certificate for the invention of an effective magnetoelectric material. Gusakov V.P.'s formation as a scientist was greatly influenced by direct communication with such adherents in the field of semiconductor physics as Lenin Prize laureate A.A. Abrikosov, academicians V.S. Vavilov, S.A. Aliyev, I.I. Tsidilkovsky. Having defended his dissertation on the topic "Magnetothermoelectric efficiency of solid solutions of bismuth-antimony doped with tin and tellurium", Gusakov V.P. returned to the Department of Physics of the Petropavlovsk Pedagogical Institute.

At the Department of Physics, he worked his way up from a teacher to an academic professor at NKSU. Recognition of his achievements in the scientific and technical field, the undoubted leadership of the NKSU in the information system of Kazakhstan was the election in 2001 as a full member-academician of the International Academy of Informatization. Professor Gusakov V.P. lectures on the course of general and theoretical physics, conducts special courses, supervises graduate students, undergraduates and postgraduates. As a scientist, he is distinguished by the ability to see the variety of areas of application of the results of his innovative research. Working as the head of the Department of Physics, dean of the faculty, vice-rector for Academic Affairs, professor, he showed organizational skills, creative attitude to work. Gusakov V.P. is characterized by an energetic and decisive style of work, but at the same time, in communicating with students and colleagues, he shows sensitivity, fairness and sense of time.

Under his leadership and with his direct participation, a significant reconstruction of the educational part was carried out: educational-methodical, educational-innovative and dispatching services were formed. An "Educational portal" has been developed and opened, a "Virtual Academy of Schoolchildren" has become operational, a quality management center has been organized. The result was the receipt of a patent for an "Integrated automated management system of an educational institution".

Gusakov V.P. is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, regularly participates in scientific and methodological conferences, both in the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad. From 1978 to 1990, under his leadership, a complex of research works for machine-building plants of the city of Petropavlovsk was carried out on a contractual basis. Subsequently, he took an active part in the implementation of research topics on grants of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan: "Universal integrated knowledge assessment system", "Automated system for monitoring and quality management of professional higher education", "Intelligent integrated system for monitoring, optimizing and improving the quality of the use of educational and material resources of the university based on new information technologies", "Intelligent integrated university management system based on indicative planning".

V.P. Gusakov's labor achievements were marked by "Gratitude of the Ministry of Education of the Kazakh USR", "Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Education of the Kazakh USR", "Gratitude of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", "Gratitude of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev", "Certificate of Honor of the Akim of the North Kazakhstan region". Viktor Petrovich was awarded the badge "Excellent of National Enlightenment of the Kazakh USR", the badge "Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan", "The Big Gold Medal of M. Kozybayev NKSU. His name is listed in the university's Book of Honor.

Behind this sequence of facts of biography is an impulsive life, fate, the path of a man who devoted himself to hard work.

In his 70th year, Gusakov V.P. gives colleagues, especially young people, an example of high efficiency, creative activity, discipline and organization. Dedication to his native university, hard work and respect for people – these are the components of Viktor Petrovich's success in his work at the North Kazakhstan State University named after Manash Kozybayev.
