Journalist, abayologist and local historian

Candidate of Philological Sciences, Docent, Professor of NKSU

Zarkyn Syzdykuly Taishibay was born on March 31, 1942 in the Kuva (Karkaralinsky) district of the Karaganda region. After graduating from Kuva Kazakh secondary school, he worked as a mechanic on a collective farm, a literary worker, deputy editor, editor of a district newspaper, head of departments of the Karaganda regional newspaper "Ortalyk Kazakhstan". He graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of S.M. Kirov Kazakh State University with a degree in Journalism and postgraduate studies at the Department of History of Journalism.

Since 1992, senior lecturer, Head of the Department of Journalism of the E.A. Buketov KarSU. Since 2000, associate professor, doctoral student, professor of the North Kazakhstan State University named after M. Kozybayev. Since 2001, the head of the scientific center for "Ethnocultural Studies" of M. Kozybayev NKSU, Candidate of Philological Sciences (1997), associate professor (2006). The topic of the dissertation: "Some pre-revolutionary sources of Abay studies".

Taishybay Z.S. is engaged in research on the history of Kazakh literature of the early 20th century, introduced a course of Abay studies, wrote 19 articles about the works of A. Baitursynov, M. Auezov, M. Zhumabayev, S. Saduakasov, etc.

Questions of local lore and onomastics occupy an important place in the work of Z. Taishybay. He wrote, on the basis of archival materials, a number of articles covering the most important stages of the Northern region and the region; published the book "Atameken ataulary" (co-authored with K. Ospanov and K. Akhmetzhanova). "Syr Sandygym – Kyzylzhar" (from the history of Northern Kazakhstan), 2014. One of the compilers of the encyclopedia, who was the author of about 100 dictionary and review articles and scientific consultant of the publication. Author of 43 articles in the Kazakh Soviet Encyclopedia and 37 articles in the encyclopedia Abylai Khan, published in 2013.

Z. Taishybay made a significant contribution to the introduction of the Kazakh language into science and modern education. He translated textbooks for universities from Russian into Kazakh: "Neuropathology", "Nervous diseases", "Physical Chemistry", "Design in Industry", "Resistance of materials", a series of textbooks on the organization and economics of trade. He is the founder and the first chairman of the regional society "Kazakh Tili" (1989) in the Karaganda region.

The author of a 2-volume edition about Abylai Khan (Kazaktyn khany - Abylai: Omiri men kyzmetine katysty kuzhattar men materialdar.- Almaty: El-shezhire. – 2011) and the compiler of the encyclopedia "Abylai Khan: Encyclopedia" / Z. Taishybay. – Almaty: Kazakh Encyclopedias, 2013; one of those who studies the life and work of an outstanding statesman of Kazakhstan.

Zarkyn Syzdykovich is an experienced teacher and organizer of journalistic education in the republic, founded the specialty "Journalism" at E.A. Buketov KarSU, the second in Kazakhstan after KazSU, a member of the international seminar "Journalistic education in Central Asia".

In 2001, at the invitation of the US State Department, he visited 5 universities under the program "Training of journalists in the USA", made presentations at international conferences on the problems of modern media and training of journalists.

He was awarded the badges: "Honorary Worker of Education of Kazakhstan", "Kazakh author" named after A. Baitursynov, "Honorary Journalist of Kazakhstan", the medal "Kazakh tilinin zhanashyry", Honorary diplomas of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Information and Communications, Honorary Diploma of the Akim of the North Kazakhstan region, Honorary Diploma of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan. In 2012, he became the winner of the "Best Teacher of the Year" grant. By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 5, 2016, Zarkyn Syzdykovich was awarded the Honorary title "Honored Worker of Kazakhstan".

In February 2014, in the assembly hall of the North Kazakhstan State University, a presentation of the book by Zarkyn Taishybay "Syr Sandygym - Kyzylzhar" took place, where the author makes an attempt to analyze the complex and contradictory events of the post-October period in Northern Kazakhstan from a new historical perspective.

Zarkyn Syzdykovich Taishybay is the author of more than 100 scientific articles, textbooks and monographs on the history and culture of the Republic, and many of them are devoted to the history of the North Kazakhstan region and Petropavlovsk.
