A group of volunteers has been formed at Kozybayev University, ready to provide assistance to people who experienced flood. These are students studying in two-degree programs with the University of Arizona in the field of Psychology in Education, as well as members of the Psychological Club of the university. There are 40 people in total.
A cycle of trainings with psychologists from emergency department has been organized for them. The first lesson was on the topic: "Psychological assistance during an emergency."
Students are given introductory instructions on working on the hotline phone and with people in evacuation centers. Chief specialist psychologist, Senior Lieutenant of Civil Protection Alexandra Yudaeva shared her experience of interacting with people in emergency situations: "We receive about 50 calls a day via the emergency hotline. Residents ask questions of an informational nature: they are interested in how to evacuate, where pets can be temporarily placed, etc. People with aggressive, panic reactions also call."
We would like to inform you that the university also has a Psychological Service phone number 49-30-35. Such classes with students will be held on Thursdays. The next topic is the psychological assistance for post-traumatic stress disorder.
