Nauryz: Festival of spring and abundance

Nauryz celebration is one of the oldest in the world; it is celebrated for over five thousand years. Nevertheless, despite the remoteness, it remained in people's memory, and now has a new spiritual meaning.

In our university, all faculties, institute of language and literature and multi-profiled college presented their improvised holiday yurts. A jury, in the face of pro-rectors, heads of departments and representatives of regional center of folk art chose the most hospitable one. The Theme of the event was « Nauryz meiramy of Turkic peoples of Kazakhstan."

Students demonstrated traditions, rituals, performed songs and dances. They competed in a tug of war,  togyz-kumalyak and bes asyk. Rich tablecloth was laid in each yurt.

As a result, the Grand Prix for the best organization and conduction of the holiday was given to ILL. The first place – to ETF and NGF, the second - to MPC and ITF, the third place was given to three faculties - HLF, PEF, and MEF.

There were no winners and losers on this day; in fact, "Nauryz" became a national holiday of spring, peace and unity. Today, it is equally dear to all residents of multinational Kazakhstan!
