The first debate tournament of this academic year was held at Kozybayev University

Debate, as a form of public discussion, actually appeared when a person for the first time disagreed with something and tried to defend his point of view. They are known for their popularity in ancient Greece, where they were an important part of democracy.

At our university, students annually try their hand at the art of defending their ideas and criticizing opposing views. The first debate tournament brought together guys and girls from various faculties of Kozybayev University, as well as the North Kazakhstan Vocational Pedagogical College. There are 6 teams with 2 participants each. The event was organized by the DESW, the project office "Sanaly urpaq", PA "The Last Hope" and PA "Adaldyk alagy".

The game was played in the American format, which consists in a competition of arguments, wit and rhetorical qualities in an imaginary Parliament. During the debate, the parties, trying to convince the jury that they were right, put forward ideas on three topics: models of combating the pandemic in different countries, distance education, and anti-corruption activities. Debaters competed in 8 rounds.

As a result, the 1st place was taken by the "Sun Way" team - fourth-year students Sona Abrahamyan (FEDT) and Timur Aitullin (FHEL), the "silver" went to the "Singularity" team - Evgeny Soloviev and Nikita Zaitsevsky, studying in the specialty "Jurisprudence" (FHEL), the third were the guys from the team "Luntik and Luna" Liana Dolganova, Yan Grushin (HSM). Makhabbat Kakunova (NKVPC) was recognized as the best speaker of the tournament.

Such meetings are a unique opportunity for students to share their experience, consolidate and develop their knowledge, hone their oratory skills, combine learning with a pleasant pastime.
