The Germanic and Romance Philology Department
The Department of Germanic and Romance Philology was opened in 1972. On the basis of the department, specialists are trained in undergraduate (Bachelor degree) and graduate (Master degree) educational programs. The faculty of the department strives to form a highly educated personality capable of professional growth, possessing key and professional competencies. The main goal of the department is to train highly qualified personnel with knowledge of foreign languages. A balanced combination of theoretical courses and practical disciplines allows the department to produce highly demanded foreign language teachers, linguists, competitive in the field of intercultural communication, translation activities, international relations and other areas, both in Kazakhstan and abroad. The department is actively developing in the field of international cooperation: among the teachers there are foreign specialists, native speakers, under the “English Language Fellow Program” at the US Embassy in Kazakhstan. Since 2022, with the assistance of the Turkish Embassy in Kazakhstan, the Turkish language has been experimentally introduced as a second foreign language. Students have ample opportunities to study in Kazakhstani and European universities under the academic mobility program.
